Report from Dulverton Farmers Point to Point meeting held at Mounsey Hill Gate on Saturday 27th May 2006.

I apologise for this being the shortest report I have ever written but as we could only see the finish of most races the Results page will give you more details than I can here.  Exmoor weather! Thick fog and rain for the entire meeting!  All but four by fours were towed in and out but the course was raceable, good to soft with soft in places, and the show went on.

It was a case of which commentator could see the most at any one time and on more than one instance when Alfie handed over to the second position he did so because he could not see anything from his position and then only to be told that Geoff in number two box could see even less.  More often than not the dulcet tones of "Over to you Geoff" should have been met with the reply - "Why!"

Once, the Doctor, wherever he was, reported that "ten had passed here" and provided the same number passed position one or two then we had no fallers.  So it went on!

Money was won and lost but Ruth failed to have her few quid on her favourite local jockey and was a little more than upset when Will Biddick brought FORDHAM GLORY in to win by a length at the lovely price of 25/1. but we did manage to place a little in tin and bag when the lovely horse WATCHYOURBACK clocked up Claire Allen's twentieth win for the season.  The bag also reaped a little when GENERAL BLACKTHORN (R Lee) won the intermediate by a distance.

I fancied TEDDY BOY (R Woolacott) to beat MAXIMIZE (D Edwards) but it was not to be and Darren nursed his charge to a two length win over my choice.

I'm afraid that's it really for this one as the rest can be read from the Results page and I am off now to pack ready for the trip to Upcott in the morning where the South Tetcott will be holding there meeting and you just make sure you - BE THERE!
